TV chef to attend Howden Show 2016

A familiar face from television appearances on The Great British Menu and Chefs: Put Your Menu Where Your Mouth Is, consultant chef Stephanie Moon will be giving live cooking demonstrations at the Food Festival at Howden Show 2016.

A Yorkshire farmer’s daughter, Stephanie has worked in some of the world’s finest hotels and restaurants. She started her career at The Dorchester in London, working for world famous chef Anton Mosimann, and later spent eight years as the Executive Head Chef at The Clocktower Restaurant at Rudding Park, Harrogate. More recently, she has launched her own chef consultancy business and embarked on a part-time role as a chef tutor at Leeds College, but she still acts as Chef Consultant to Rudding Park.

Stephanie is well known on the Yorkshire food scene and has won a string of accolades, including Yorkshire Life magazine’s Chef of the Year title and a bronze medal in the British Culinary Federation Chef of the Year competition. As well as giving demonstrations at food festivals and other events, Stephanie also makes regular radio and television appearances.

Sean Welsh, Chairman of the Howden Show Committee and organiser of the Food Festival, said: "We’re delighted that Stephanie can join us as she has an impressive reputation and is a great champion of Yorkshire food and drink. On the day, she will be working with a local butcher to show spectators some of the different cuts of meat and how to make best use of then."

Headline attractions for Howden Show 2016 announced

The Howden Show Committee has announced further details of the programme of entertainment and attractions for this year’s event, which will take place on Sunday 3 July at The Ashes Playing Fields in Howden.

Fresh from their appearances on the BBC television series Poldark, Eastrington-based Atkinson Action Horses will, once again, be one of the star attractions. For more than 20 years, the Atkinson family have been training horses and riders for film, television and live events. Featuring jaw-dropping stunts and tricks, including Roman riding, their live shows are a real spectacle.

Always popular with crowds at Howden Show, Ben Potter will return with his magnificent birds of prey display, featuring eagles, vultures and more. The birds will each get a chance to fly a lap or two of the main ring, but visitors will also be able to see them up close as they rest on their perches on Ben’s stand.

Also part of the exciting line-up, Surefire Circus is a collective of fire performers, circus artists and creative entertainers based across the UK, who perform internationally. The team features everything from acrobats and jugglers to stilt walkers, and there will also be opportunities for visitors to the show to try their hand at circus skills in a series of fun, interactive workshops.

During the course of the day, Think Bikes, London’s leading bike stunt display team, will give exciting live performances featuring jaw-dropping stunts and tricks, as well as running training workshops for those who want to have a go themselves.
